Ingelvac HP-1 breaks new ground
Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. is happy to announce the introduction of a new single dose vaccine for Haemophilus parasuis. Ingelvac® HP-1 is the first single dose vaccine against Hps to provide:
- Proven cross protection against several different isolates
- Duration of protection to market (at least 160 days of age)
- Single dose convenience of Impran® Plus adjuvant
The foundation of Ingelvac® HP-1 is its “cross reactive”, or untypable seed isolate. This isolate is grown under special conditions to optimize the dose and immunity potential of the vaccine. Impran® Plus, an oil emulsion adjuvant, is highly syringeable. Sustained delivery of vaccine over several weeks provides a booster dose “inside” the first and only injection needed.
Proof of performance
Every serial of Ingelvac® HP-1 passes a pig potency test. This test ensures that product can effectively protect against a real challenge before it goes to producers. Additionally, protection of over 80% of pigs has been demonstrated against other unlike types (i.e. serotype 4) with this antigen. In contrast, non-vaccinated pigs typically suffer 80% or greater death loss in these studies. No other vaccine gets this tough test in pigs prior to release for producer use.
For proof of protection from a single dose, Ingelvac® HP-1 was tested to prove a minimum time of protection. Pigs were vaccinated once at three weeks of age, then held until 153 days of age (132 days after vaccination). Challenge lasted 7 days, after which 94% of vaccinated pigs were completely protected — no signs of any kind! One hundred percent of non-vaccinated pigs had clinical signs, and 55% of these market weight pigs died. No other Hp vaccine has demonstrated this duration of protection.
Single Dose Line Addition
Ingelvac® HP-1 adds to the industry's most complete line of single dose products proven to protect pigs! Single dose vaccines save labor. More importantly, they aid in proper timing of vaccination to maximize value, and can help reduce the spread of other diseases like PRRS, that can spread via injection. Oral vaccines take the advantages one step further. These include:

The vaccines above are proven to protect pigs at or above the level of two dose vaccines by utilizing superior production techniques and the Impran® family of adjuvants. Additionally, BIVI offers Toxivac® AD+E, the first Atrophic Rhinitis bacterin/toxoid, still a protection leader, for single dose AR control.
