Research Proves Effectiveness of Simultaneous Oral Vaccination

Recently, studies have been conducted to ensure the effectiveness of immunizing pigs when Enterisol Ileitis FF, Enterisol SC-54 and Ingelvac ERY-ALC were administered simultaneously compared to challenged and/or strict control pigs. Th e studies evaluated gross le-sion scores for ileitis; colonization of mesenteric lymph nodes and colons for salmonella; and mortality and clinical signs of erysipelas of both treated and untreated pigs.

In summary, the trials indicate: – Simultaneous oral vaccination provides signifi cant protective eff ects for their respective diseases. – No interference with immunization was observed when the vaccines were administered simultaneously. – Simultaneous vaccination had no negative eff ect on pre-challenge weight gain or performance.

Optimal vaccination timing for each disease may diff er depending on maternal immunity, onset of infection and other factors. Herd histories and diagnostic assessments can help determine appropriate timing for each vaccine.
